Cisleithania and Transleithania were the unofficial terms for the Empire of Austria and the Kingdom of Hungary--Bizso (talk) 03:02, 16 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Inaccuracy[edit]

If in the Austrian Empire (1804-1867) it is logical to represent all components (see here [1]), in the Austria-Hungary (1867-1918) it is logical to represent only "Cisleithania" (The Kingdoms and Lands represented in the Imperial Council), "Transleithania" (Lands of the Crown of Saint Stephen) and Bosnia-Herzegovina (see here [2]). The actual representation here is inaccurate because it does not correspond to reality : the Kingdom of Hungary and the Kingdom of Croatia-Slavonia are not equal, nor each other, nor with the components of Cisleithania. --Julieta39 (talk) 11:14, 22 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]

I don't know what's correct, but I studied this issue enough to understand the complaint. For anyone else's benefit, the problem is that this map fails to show the division of region 16 into:
Now, after the en:Austro-Hungarian Compromise of 1867, the preceding three plus Königreich Kroatien-Slawonien (en:Kingdom of Croatia-Slavonia) were grouped together as the en:Lands of the Crown of Saint Stephen (a.k.a. Transleithania) but the argument is that they should be shown as one unit or four, but not two. Still, there are other maps which show it as two, notably File:Cisleithanien Transleithanien.png. 209.209.238.189 02:08, 16 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Overall I think this complaint has little merit. The Lands of the Crown of Saint Stephen (i.e. Hungary and Croatia-Slavonia) were jointly administered, but this map does not suggest otherwise, and they were separate territories administered by a joint government. However I'll leave the "Inaccurate-map-disputed" template up, so anyone else can opine. File:Cisleithanien Transleithanien.png is there for anyon who dislikes this.
