This file was originally not cropped, then cropped, I uncropped it again and now two days ago it is the cropped version again. We already have the cropped version as Auschwitz resistance 282a.jpg I am not sure how it is dealt in the museum either. Is 282a the cropped or the uncropped version? --Hannolans (talk) 21:03, 10 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Hannolans, I see now that it was originally uploaded the way you want it (which seems to be attached to a photo album), so you're in the right here. I prefer the current version, but I should upload that with a different file name, or perhaps that's what the lower case 282a is. So if you want to revert again, please do. These file names and the images themselves are a bit of a mess. It would be good to work on them and sort it out. SarahSV (talk) 21:51, 10 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, I think that that is already the other version. You are right it is a bit messy, caused by the fact that multiple versions are published (cropped and retouched see http://www.historiography-project.com/books/pressac-auschwitz/423.php) and Auschwitz State Museum doesn't have those different versions online or a photo database online. I already contacted them for high res pictures, but they don't want to distribute them. --Hannolans (talk) 01:36, 11 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]
I think some of the touching up has led to inaccuracies too. I don't have the example to hand now, but I'll post again with it. Do you mind if I also write to the State Museum? Perhaps a query from a second person would make a difference (probably not, but worth a try). SarahSV (talk) 15:49, 11 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, please do. Would be helpful if they open their collection as they have put hardly anything online. Or else their metadata would be nice as well, so that we can give the photographs the right inventory number and description--Hannolans (talk) 18:50, 11 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]
