Arabic and Somalia & Djibouti[edit]

These two countries do not have any spoken dialect of Arabic of their own. Only Modern Standard Arabic is taught and is the most widespread form of Arabic in those areas. Only a fraction of the Arabic speakers in Djibouti and Somalia have a genuine Yemeni Arabic dialect from prior habitation in Yemen, more people only know Modern Standard Arabic (as a second/third language) than speak Yemeni Arabic there. The Yemeni dialect of Arabic is not predominant in Djibouti and Somalia. Afar and Somali are the primary local vernaculars, while Modern Standard Arabic is the main form of Arabic learned for religious and commercial reasons. I suggest changing the map and to somehow reflecting this reality. AzanianPearl (talk) 14:12, 20 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

@AzanianPearl: FYI, you're feedback were taken into account to create the new map. A455bcd9 (talk) 09:12, 8 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Backwards copy[edit]

@M.Bitton: the backwards copy in Schmitt 2019 isn't the same as the one here: check the color of Chadian Arabic for instance. That's why it's incorrect to just write "backwards copy". I suggest: "A previous version of this file can be found in (backwards copy):" Or whatever other sentence to show that it's not the same image. A455bcd9 (talk) 15:14, 2 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]

It doesn't need to have the same colour. Frankly, this is becoming tiresome. M.Bitton (talk) 15:44, 2 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I agree that this is becoming tiresome. I'm just asking for the description to be correct: it's not true that there's a backwards copy of THIS file in Schmitt 2019. It's more accurate to say that it's a previous version. A455bcd9 (talk) 15:47, 2 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
You're just splitting hairs in order to impose your favourite map (that's all you've been doing for a while). I suggest you drop the stick. M.Bitton (talk) 15:51, 2 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I don't understand: how is this related to "[my] favourite map"? The fact that this map is cited in a source is totally unrelated to the new map, no? I'm just asking for an accurate description pointing to the version cited in the source: is that wrong? A455bcd9 (talk) 16:22, 2 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Inaccurate-map-disputed[edit]

I added {{Inaccurate-map-disputed}} because other editors disputed the accuracy of this map in various places:

This template is aimed to be used "for maps where the factual correctness or accuracy is disputed", which is exactly the situation.

This is independent from potential use of this file by RS @M.Bitton. Commons isn't Wikipedia. A455bcd9 (talk) 15:49, 2 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Why didn't you tag favourite map (whose factual accuracy is also disputed)? 15:51, 2 December 2022 (UTC)
Done! I thought you had already done it but I forgot that you did it on Wikipedia and not here. A455bcd9 (talk) 16:00, 2 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
