Puglia & Calabria[edit]

It is wrong the map! Puglia & Calabria never were under full control of the Arabs. Only some areas near the coast.BD

Fake Map[edit]

This is a fake map created by Nanoxyde, a random user living in France. The Aghlabids never controlled Calabria and Puglia. It should be edited or deleted from Wikipedia. — Preceding unsigned comment was added by 108.30.15.176 (talk) 11:38, 6 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

This Map is a fake,Sardinia never been part of an emirate.[edit]

In the IX and X centuries Sardinia was part of Bizantine empire and the island never been occupied by arabs during its history. — Preceding unsigned comment was added by 62.10.218.227 (talk) 17:31, 1 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Disputed[edit]

The map on page 24 in the Atlas of Islamic History doesn't show Sardinia and Southern Italy with the same colours as Sicily and Northern Africa, it paints them with the ones associated to "Non-Muslim / Muslim contested/shared over time territories" (as per the legend in page 12) between "Western Christian states", the Byzantine Empire and the Aghlabids when it comes to Sardinia and just between Western Christian states and the Aghlabids for Southern Italy. Also, the context of that image is a page where the same authors of the image wrote:

"The Aghlabids ruled more or less independently until the Fatimid conquest in 909, initiating an Arab occupation of Sicily that was to last more than 250 years and raiding Corsica, Sardinia and southern Italy."

Sardinia and Southern Italy were therefore just "raided", not "occupied". The map here on Commons gives anyone seeing it misleading informations. L2212 (talk) 18:27, 6 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Unreliable map of the maximum territorial extent of the Aghlabid dynasty 800-909 CE[edit]

Beyond the fact that on such issues one source is never enough, the map of the maximum territorial extent of the Aghlabid dynasty 800-909 CE (File:Aghlabids Dynasty 800 - 909 (AD).svg), which some users insist on publishing, is not a faithful reproduction of the map used as a source, which is why it should be deleted. In the map in the source (Atlas of Islamic History, page 24) only Sicily is shown as fully under the control of the Aghlabid dynasty. While in this map neither Sardinia, Calabria nor Apulia are fully under control. That the image is not a faithful reproduction is a fact, not even an opinion of mine. You can check for yourself, the map can be seen here [1] and here [2] Chiorbone da Frittole (talk) 14:20, 16 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

I confirm. I.E. The Whole Sardinia never been part of an emirate. Only a few sea towns of Sardinia were conquered by an emirate and only for a few period of time. --Skyfall (talk) 15:16, 25 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I suggest you familiarize yourselves with Commons' rules. Also, since the map is used in other projects and you have been reverted multiple times (here and on the English wikipedia), I also suggest you give your edit warring a rest. M.Bitton (talk) 15:20, 30 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I suggest you familiarize yourselves with the respect of sources in order to avoid misinterpretation. The source never puts all of these areas in the same category, therefore doing that is original research and POV pushing. Both Sardinia and Southern Italy are colored differently compared to Northern Africa or Sicily, and they are also different from each other. In the same page of the book used as a source, the authors actually wrote "The Aghlabids ruled more or less independently until the Fatimid conquest in 909, initiating an Arab occupation...." etc. --Skyfall (talk) 08:23, 9 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
