Date[edit]

The April 10th date is a long-held view, and many books reference it. The revised date is a relatively "recent" discovery. The revisions I've made so far simply reference the disparity. It is my intention to dig up and cite the research that supports the February 5th date. As I recall, the evidence comprises diary entries that make it clear Lincoln posed on this day. At any rate, I don't propose to assert more than the disparity between what was written on the image in the LoC and the research until I sort that out. Only after I've got the proper citations will I go back and revise the article in the affirmative. Rklawton 19:47, 23 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]
