Hi, I own a 1997 Mercedes S280 W140 model. I have this ASR indicator lighted up on my dashboard's meter after driving for a few metres but there was no visible/feel of reduced efficiency.. When I stopped my car and switched off the engine and switched on again, the light disappeared. What is the reason for this ASR indicator to light up and if I ignore it, will it affect my vehicle's performance to the extent of causing damage to my vehicle's parts and reducing my driving/engine's efficiency? When this light last appeared, my car's engine misfired and I was told to have my car's throttle body changed. The first opinion from another mechanic was that my car's CPU was faulty because there was no electrical power feeding the coil for plugs 1 & 5. ( I had all plug wires, suppressors and coil for plugs 1 & 5 changed upon the advice of the first mechanic. When the vehicle still misfired after said parts were changed, I then sought a second opinion. The 2nd mechanic installed a pre-owned/reconditioned throttle body and since some fifty kilometres ago, the car performed well until today. I hope that someone can provide me some answers to my above-mentioned questions. Thanks. Ricky Ng
