performing her house-hold tasks. There is a rubber glove for sale in rub-ber goods stores, which many ladies use who do theirown washing of dishes. Gloves should always beworn when outdoors. A beautiful hand is a poem initself, and many are the devices resorted to, to keepit white and shapely. A French recipe for this pur-pose is to sleep in gloves filled with a paste of thefollowing ingredients: Half a pound of soft soap, a gill of salad oil, anounce of mutton tallow, boiled together until thor-oughly incorporated. As soon as done boiling, butbefore cold, add one gill of spirits of wine, and agrain of musk. This is rather a troublesome process, but the resultis entirely satisfactory. Sleeping in soft white kid gloves, after rubbingmutton tallow on the hands, will keep them soft andwhite. MOIST HANDS. Some people have a moist, clammy hand that isvery disagreeable to the touch. Exercise, plain liv-ing, and the local application of starch powder andlemon juice will cure this affliction.

The use of oils and pomades is never desirable.Animal fats are more injurious than vegetable oils,as they heat the cuticle and become rancid, actingeventually as a depilatory. Observe the ends of thehair, and if you find them split or forked, clip off theextreme end. This will promote the growth of thehair. CARE OF THE FEET. The health and comfort of the feet depend on thecare which they receive. One way to keep them ina healthy state is to soak them several times a weekin hot water into which a handful of salt has beenthrown. Another excellent treatment is to soak themat night for fifteen minutes in hot soap-suds. Thenrub them well, and with a ball of pumice stone rub offall the superfluous skin, after which olive oil or oilof sweet almonds may be rubbed in.
