Summary[edit]

Description
English: Yew tree, St Mary's Church, Alderbury The yew tree stands in the church yard by the present south door. The tree has been ascribed various. In 1992, the Parochial Church Council applied for permission to fell the tree as it had decayed so much that many considered it to be dangerous. There was a concerted campaign to save it supported by botanist David Bellamy. The tree was eventually saved, subject to a little surgery and thinning.
