Summary[edit]

Description
English: Yamaha GS1 Synthesizer, the image was strongly changed compared to the original which featured an open lid. On the right is the Yamaha control and programming computer which came with the synthesizer, which cost about $16,000. The programming computer was needed because the device itself had very few control elements and no display. This was the first digital synthesizer from Yamaha using the then pioneering frequency modulation synthesis (short FM synthesis) developed by John Chowning at the music research center of Stanford University (CCRMA) in the United States, where these devices were photographed in 2015.

Note: The sizes of both devices are not depicted correctly with respect to each other, meaning one of them appears too small relative to the other, which is a compromise owing to the image composition.
