The treat for myself this Christmas was an acoustic guitar, with some hope that I would be able to find some time to learn to play in the new year. After a lot of research, I settled on a Yamaha FG730S which seemed to offer a quality guitar for the money. I’ve put some time into learning (although, not enough) and am continuing to feel the pain associated with achy palms and numb finger tips on my left hand. As an engineer, I am also one to tinker. This led me to update the guitar slightly with a natural bone saddle and bone bridge pins. I ordered these from Bob Colosi at www.guitarsaddles.com and installed them last night. It definitely brightened up the sound and offers greater sustain to an already good-sounding guitar. Plus, it’s nice to get rid of the cheap, plastic components and go with quality parts. Let’s hope I can live up to the enhanced performance of the instrument and show off it’s tone and clarity with some playing of my own. 365 Project guitar Yamaha FG730S bone saddle Bob Colosi bone bridge pins. |
