Description
Nederlands: Veelluik, gekend als het Antoniusaltar, met gesloten vleugels, in de Dom van Xanten (Duitsland).. Het is waarschijnlijk door Jan Baegert ca. 1510 geschilderd. De vleugels tonen (links) Sint-Antonius van Egypte met de schenker, gekleed als een kanunnik van Xanten, samen met de apostol Thomas (gekend als de Ongelovige Thomas, te herkennen aan de winkelhaak) en (rechts) Maria Magdalena met St-Denijs. De schilderijen boven stellen St-Viktor en de St-Helena voor. In de predella bevinden zich relikwieën.
English: Polyptych, known as Antoniusaltar (Anthony's altar), wings closed, in Xanten Cathedral. Probably painted by Jan Baegert ca. 1510. The left wing shows Anthony the Great and doubting Thomas together with the maecenas, dressed as a canon of Xanten, the right wing shows Mary magdalen and Saint Dionysius. The two paintings on top show St-Victor and St-Helena. the predella holds reliquis.
