Description
English: Vital statistics: Gauege 4 feet 8 1/2 inches; Fuel wood or soft coal; boiler diameter 38 inches; Wheel base 72 inches; cylinders 13 inches by 30 inches; diameter of drivers 37 inches; tank capacity 800 gallons; smoke stack diamond; steam pressure 130 pounds; weight 45,000 pounds; built 1884. This locomotive was nicknamed “GOP” “Get Out and Push” because it derailed quite iften. The locomotive was designed to haul 70 gross tons of car and cargo up a 4% grade. This engine was used in the California redwoods and around Mt Shasta from 1890.
