On Saturday, February 29, and Sunday, March 1, 2009, I attended WonderCon in San Francisco. WonderCon is an annual comics convention; the northern cousin of the San Diego Comic-Con which comes in the summer. The convention mostly focuses on comics, though there are also panels and booths for animation, video games, movies and TV shows. I attended with some former roommates from my college days and extended friends. This was really the first mass collection of nerds I had attended since Macworld Expo 1998, which, coincidentally, was also held in San Francisco's Moscone Center, back when Apple was still selling MessagePads and printers!

I'm more of an animation nerd than a comic book nerd, so some of this stuff was kind of above my head; car rides and meals were spent with our group discussing things like the relative powers of the Blue and Red Lanterns, and I'd be like, "There are Lanterns of other colors?" - There was only the Green Lantern in the Justice League cartoon. All that aside, the whole event was still a lot of fun. Crowded, noisy, flashy, geeky fun.

This set will feature various photos of the goings-on at the convention, in the order that the pictures were taken. Most of the pictures will be of cosplayers (people who dress up in costumes), just because it was fun seeing them all and taking their photos. There will be a few other things, though. To start, here's a picture of the line to get in. There were a lot of people there on Saturday, which meant long lines to get in - and long lines also to get in to various panels and such. More crowd and line photos later.
