Summary[edit]

Description
English: Built in 1857 and expanded and renovated in 1890, this Carpenter Gothic Revival-style house was constructed by Adam Hickman, and sits atop the site of a wolf’s den that was encountered by Daniel Boone in 1860, leading to Abingdon being given its original name of Wolf Hills. The house later served as a dwelling for actors at the Barter Theatre in the mid-20th Century. The house features a side-gable roof with three front gables, a wooden clapboard-clad exterior, decorative Gothic Revival-style sawn wooden trim at the eaves, six-over-six and four-over-four double-hung windows, a one-story bay window on the front facade, a wrap-around porch with decorative columns, a sawn balustrade, hipped roof, and tall open brick pier foundation, a front door with sidelights and a transom, and a red brick base. The house is a contributing structure in the Abingdon Historic District, listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1970.
