Description
Français : Charny 1943 - Le 10 Août... Le premier ministre de la Grande-Bretagne, Winston Churchill, parti par la mer sur le Queen Mary, débarque à Halifax avec sa délégation. Ils sauteront dans un convoi ferroviaire jusqu'à Charny avant de traverser le pont de Québec en voiture. On le voit ici à la gare de Charny, avec le premier ministre du Canada, Mackenzie King. Le but de la visite... "La conférence de Québec". Une semaine plus tard, c'est le tour du président des États-Unis, Franklin D. Roosevelt, de se joindre à eux. La Conférence de Québec a marqué un tournant dans les hostilités de la Deuxième Guerre Mondiale. «On a décidé à Québec le jour du débarquement de Normandie" "... Début août 1943, le Tout-Québec est en émoi. Le Château Frontenac a été vidé de ses clients, et des milliers de réservations ont été annulées. Des batteries antiaériennes sont installées près de l'hôtel, sur les plaines d'Abraham, aux abords de la Citadelle. Les agents secrets sont à l'oeuvre..."
