Summary[edit]
DescriptionWindermere High View Avenue Herne Bay.JPG |
English: Windermere, High View Avenue, Herne Bay, Kent, England. It was built sometime between 1920 and 1935. It was home to author Will Scott from 1935 to 1964. While he lived there it was neat and pebbledashed, which made the walls look brown. The windows had small panes. It is probable that his study was on the first floor at the back, so that he had a view over Hampton and the sea as far as Sheppey. From that upstairs back window he would have seen most of the site of Hampton-on-Sea until new buildings in the 1950s and 1960s obstructed his view. The yellow-painted walls and the plastic windows appeared long after he died. |
