Indians' Friend, W. S. Hanson, Dies At Age Of 67. Fort Myers, Florida; April 5, 1945. (Associated Press) Stanley Hanson, 61, Florida and friend of and authority on the Seminole Indians, died yesterday at Lee Memorial hospital after a short illness. One of the original trail blazers when the Tamiami trail was planned, he had a deep interest in the Florida Indians. He was known as the Seminoles "White Medicine Man" and was one of the organizers of the Seminole Indian association which was disbanded when the government took over control. For many years he represented the government on the Big Cypress reservation. Besides his widow, be is survived by a daughter. Mrs. Gordon McGee, a son, W. Stanley Hanson, Jr., and two grandchildren. Funeral services were to be held here today.
