Description

Item 33404, Pike Place Market Visual Images and Audiotapes (Record Series 1628-02), Seattle Municipal Archives. Seattle Municipal Archives changed its URL scheme circa 2022; the older URLs beginning with "clerk" are deprecated, and will eventually fail. Western Avenue on the west side of Pike Place Market, Seattle, Washington, 1921. File:Seattle - map - Pike Place Market and vicinity 1920.jpg shows that this neighborhood had a different configuration of streets then than it does now. This appears to be taken from just a bit south of Virginia Street. At the left is an earlier iteration of the North Arcade of the Market; unlike the present-day arcade, it didn't have columns supporting it from street level on Western. The buildings on the right were between Western Avenue and the long-lost Armory Way.
