Summary[edit]

Description
English: The first school building in Waterloo, Ontario, Canada, built in 1820.

The school was originally built near the present-day MacGregor Senior Public School, but was moved to (then) Berlin (now Kitchener) in 1842 where it was used as a residence. In 1894, largely through the efforts of Isaac E. Bowman, a member of the local Park Board of Management, the log schoolhouse was purchased by the Board and moved to Waterloo Park where it still stands today. Initially, it served as a refreshment stand. Renovations to the aging schoolhouse began in 1961 with the addition of a new shingle roof, and in 1973 the building was dismantled and reconstructed.
