Description U.S. Navy warships bombard targets ashore in support of the D-Day landings on Utah Beach, 6 June 1944, photographed from the heavy cruiser USS Quincy (CA-71). The ship in the left center distance appears to be the battleship USS Nevada (BB-36), which was stationed a mile or two southward of Quincy in Utah Beach's Fire Support Area One.
