Description |
"Waiting for the unexpected" , by Erik Pevernagie, oil on canvas,( 80 x 100 cm)
The painting represents the visual angle of the person, who is watching and waiting but who is not present on the canvas. This visual angle invites us to trap the perspective by deforming it thoroughly. At the same time, the beholder who looks at the painting also looks at the balcony by taking the identity of the absent character. The beholder creates a connection between the external and internal space of the painting. In this way, the painting opens itself to the public. The shape, the structure impose themselves and create some disturbance. The canvas is almost empty. No cumbersome details. No technical tricks. I realize now that it was the vacuum which disturbed me and which worried me. "(Ludmila Krasnova)
