Description
English: Photo taken on 8 May 2019 at Lofoten War Memorial Museum (Lofoten Krigsminnemuseum) in Svolvær, Norway. The museum exhibits uniforms, militaria, smaller items, memorabilia, etc. from World War II and German-occupied Norway 1940–1945:
  • Mannequin dressed in a Waffen-SS uniform winter suit (Winteranzug, Winterausrüstung) as a German WWII soldier serving on the North front (Nordfront):
    • White snow camouflage cold weather smock, parka, jacket (hooded, padded coat) and trousers in a two-piece coverall oversuit
    • Stahlhelm, German military steel helmet, with a SS runes helmet decal, chin strap, etc.
    • German belt and Y-straps (Trageriemen, suspension straps) for carrying field gear (personal military equipment) and combat equipment (Kampfausrüstung):
      • Short shovel (entrenching tool) on left hip
      • Mess tin (Essgeschirr)
      • Canteen (water bottle) with metal cup (Feldflasche)
      • Canvas breadbag (Brotbeutel)
      • K98 bayonet for the Karabiner 98k rifle, in scabbard/sheath
  • Wehrmacht skis with attached fur skins on the underside, allowing the ski to glide forward across the snow and then grip in the other direction when climbing the slopes uphill (Bergauf). Skipoles, ski bindings.
  • Mannequins in traditional Sámi fur clothing (winter garments):
    • Men's beaska (peski), a coat made of reindeer fur, "Four Winds hat (šávká or čiehgahpir), etc.
    • Girl's costume of reindeer fur
  • Misc. exhibits and museum interior in the background:
    • Deutsche Grenzpolizei (German boarder police) sign
    • Norwegian WWII uniforms etc. in glass case display
    • German navy uniforms
