Description
English: Troops of the Wehrmacht, the military forces of Nazi Germany, in Oslo, Norway on April 9 1940, during the first day of the German invasion and occupation of Norway in World War II. German soldiers on guard at the Akershus fortress. The windows over the entrance door into the Kommandantboligen/Hovedvakten is broken. The soldiers are equipped with greatcoats, jack boots, field caps, steel helmets, Karabiner 98k rifle, field gear with gas mask cannisters, etc.

Norsk bokmål: Foto fra Akershus festningsområde i Oslo 9. april 1940, den første dagen av den tyske invasjonen og okkupasjonen av Norge under andre verdenskrig. Soldater fra Wehrmacht, det nazistiske Tysklands militære styrker, inntar og besetter hovedstaden. Tyske vaktposter, soldater og offiserer utafor Hovedvakta/Kommandatboligen ved Festningsplassen. Mennene er utstyrt med Karabiner 98k-rifle, side frakker, høye støvler, stålhjelmer, båtluer, feltutstyr med gassmasker, med mer. Glasset i vindusrammene over hoveddøra er knust.
