Description
Français : Wimereux (France - département du Pas-de-Calais) — Pointe aux Oies, Laboratoire Alfred Giard.

En 1899, Alfred Giard*, professeur à la Sorbonne, titulaire de la Chaire d'Évolution des Êtres Organisés, installe à la Pointe aux Oies, au Nord de Wimereux, le laboratoire de biologie marine dans de nouveaux locaux dus à l'architecte Louis Bonnier, frère de Jules Bonnier**, un des principaux collaborateurs de Giard.
Le précédent laboratoire, à l'étroit dans le chalet Le Sorézien, se trouvait dans les dunes, face à l'embouchure du fleuve côtier le Wimereux et de l'ancien port napoléonien. Si le chalet est toujours visible, quai Alfred Giard, à Wimereux sous le nom de « villa Napoléonette».>br>Les bâtiments de la pointe aux Oies ont été détruits en 1942 lors de la Seconde Guerre Mondiale. English: WIMEREUX — Pointe aux Oies – Biological station In 1899, Alfred Giard, who became Professor at the Sorbonne and holder of the Chair in the evolution of organised beings, set up the marine biology laboratory at Pointe aux Oies, north of Wimereux The previous laboratory installed in the chalet "le Sorézien" having become unsuitable. This chalet was at the time in the dunes, near the sea, facing the mouth of the river Wimereux, former Napoleonic port.
"Le Sorézien", now "Villa Napoléonette" is visible on Quai Giard in Wimereux.
