Summary[edit]

Description
English: Graphite tile of the Wendelstein 7-X stellarator. In preparation for the operating phase OP 1.2a, the limiter structures in the plasma vessel of Wendelstein 7-X were exchanged for a test divertor and about 8500 graphite tiles were installed on the baffle and wall protection elements. Approximately 4500 of these tiles were adjusted in size with millimeter precision, so that the gap and step offset of adjacent tiles could be kept as narrow or small as possible. The expansions in the plasma vessel make it possible to double the power of the microwave heating to 8.5 megawatts and consequently to be able to generate higher plasma densities and temperatures.
