Summary[edit]

Description
English: Relief dedicated to Rhodian local deities (goddess Brygindis?). The image depicts the kidnapping of a divine woman, similar to the robbery of Persephone by Hades. Probably the Rhodian local goddess Brygindis is meant. To the left of the horses stands the donor of the relief with his right hand raised in adoration. Stylistically, the relief is close to the frieze of the Parthenon.
Deutsch: Weihrelief an rhodische Lokalgottheiten (Göttin Brygindis?). Dargestellt ist die Entführung einer göttlichen Frau, im Bildtypus dem Raub der Persephone durch Hades ähnlich. Wahrscheinlich ist die rhodische Lokalgöttin Brygindis gemeint. Links vor den Pferden steht der Stifter des Reliefs mit anbetend erhobener Rechter. Stilistisch steht das Relief dem Fries des Parthenon nahe. Marmor, um 430 – 420 v.Chr.
