Description
English: The Orbiter 101 "Enterprise" separates from the NASA 747 carrier aircraft to begin its first "tailcone-off" unpowered flight over desert and mountains of Southern California. A T-38 chase plane follows in right background. This was the fourth in a series of five piloted free flights.
Deutsch: Der Orbiter 101 "Enterprise" trennt sich vom Shuttle Carrier Aircraft ("NASA 905"), einer Spezialversion der Boeing 747, um seinen ersten freien Flug ohne Heckverkleidung des Triebwerks über die Wüste und die Berge von Südkalifornien zu starten. Im rechten Hintergrund folgt ein T-38 Jet-Trainer. Das war der vierte in einer Serie von fünf geflogenen Freiflügen.
