Italiano: La macchina per crittografia ENIGMA, in uso alle forze armate della Germania nazista durante la seconda guerra mondiale. Nata per uso civile nel 1918, fu adottata nel 1926 dalle forze armate e rimase in uso fino al 1945; all'epoca il suo codice era stato tuttavia decrittato e il suo impiego non era più sicuro. L'esemplare nella foto è esposto al museo dell'Aeronautica Militare di Vigna di Valle
English: An Enigma machine, which was used by the Nazi german army during WWII. Originally designed for civilian and industrial use, it was adopted by German army in 1926 and was widely used during WWII. Its code was definitely broken in early 1940s and by 1945 almost all German Enigma traffic could be decrypted within a day or two, yet the Germans remained confident of its security
