Description
Français : Statuette de la Vierge, "Vierge de solitude de Moissac", sculpture du type "Vierge de douleur". Datée du 15e siècle. Auteur et provenance inconnue.

Don du moissagais Henri Cayrou au profit de l'hôpital de Moissac (la statue a également été surnommée "Vierge de l'hôpital), fait en 1881, puis transféré par la suite au musée de Moissac. Exposée dans l'entrée du cloître au moment de la prise de la photographie (août 2019).

Le style artistique rappelle celui de Claus Sluter (v. 1355-1406), donc une provenance bourguignonne est supposée. Les mains ont disparu, la Vierge est vêtue d'un manteau ample aux plis simples, et d'une guimpe autour de son visage.
