Description
English: Illustration for Chapter 6 of Verner's Pride as serialized in Once a Week magazine, Volume 7, page 71. In this scene, the farm laborer Robin Frost has heard the verdict at the inquest on the drowning of his sister Rachel, which verdict gave no opinion on the cause of the drowning. Robin (at left) has asked the squire Lionel Verner (at right) if Lionel can get the verdict changed to murder, gotten a negative answer, and turned away disgusted and distraught.
