According to its GNIS entry (ID no. 173356) in 1998, "Vaughan Lake, reservoir, 0.6 km (0.4 mi) by 0.4 km (0.2 mi), in Routt National Forest; located along Poose Creek, 6.4 km (4 mi) E of Pagoda Peak, 56 km (35 mi) NE of Meeker; named for James Leonard Vaughan (1893-1950), wildlife representative and supporter of the construction of Poose Creek Dam, Rio Blanco County, Colorado unsurveyed, T2N R88W, Sixth Principal mer.; 40°07′57″N, 107°15′28″W; USGS map - Pagoda Peak 1:24,000; NOT Vaugh Lake, Vaughn Lake." |
