They don't have factories with names like the 7th October in Britain. (sadly) This date was that on which the DDR came into existence in 1949, ex-Soviet Occupation Zone of Germany. (no change there, then....) VEB Förderanlagen "7. Oktober" (heavy machinery, was the F part of the TAKRAF = Tagebauausrüstungen, Krane und Förderananlagen combine of the GDR, today MAN TAKRAF
