| Description |
English: Upper Street, Treforus The Gorseddau Quarrymen, and particularly the residents of the barracks, had a bad reputation for rowdyism, drunkenness and fighting, especially at the weekends when they frequented the taverns of Porthmadog. Later, the missionary activities of Calvinistic exhorters, which led to the outbreak of a religious revival in area, helped to tame many of them. A surviving account book shows many of the quarrymen to have been generous contributors to the chapel building fund. |
