Description
English: Distorted panoramic image of the main building of the University of South-Eastern Norway (Norwegian: Universitetet i Sørøst-Norge, USN) Campus Vestfold at Bakkenteigen in the municipality of Horten, Norway, situated between the cities of Horten and Tønsberg.
  • The building was designed by Architect Group Lille Frøen AS and opened in 2010 as part of the Vestfold University College (Høgskolen i Vestfold, HiVe) or the Bakkenteigen campus. The USN university was established in May 2018.
  • On the campus site, you can find, among other things, the Bakkenteigen kulturhus (Cultural center, concert/conference hall) (visible on the right side of the image), which opened alongside the university center in 1991, student accommodations, welfare facilities, sports buildings, a swimming hall, and Vestfold Innovation Park.
  • The picture was taken on a sunny August day in 2023, showing the glass facade at the main entrance and some students in the outdoor area. the glass façade at the main entrance, along with some students in the outdoor area. The brick wall is adorned with logos and large metal letters for "Bakkenteigen Cultural Center" and "USN," and it's decorated with banners displaying the text "Welcome to new knowledge" and "USN University of South-Eastern Norway." In the far right background, you can catch a glimpse of the building for the Student Welfare Organization in South-Eastern Norway (Studentsamskipnaden i Sørøst-Norge, SSN) and the Vestfold and Telemark University College (Fagskolen Vestfold og Telemark), Horten campus (Raveien 189, 3184 Borre).

  • Bygget er tegnet av Arkitektgruppen Lille Frøen AS og åpnet i 2010 som del av den daværende Høgskolen i Vestfold (HiVe) eller Campus Bakkenteigen. Høgskolen i Vestfold fusjonerte med Høgskolen i Telemark og Høgskolen i Buskerud til én institusjon i perioden 2014–2016 under navnet Høgskolen i Sørøst-Norge. Universitetet USN ble etablert i mai 2018.
  • På campus-området ligger blant annet Bakkenteigen kulturhus (til høyre i bildet) som åpnet med høyskolesenteret i 1991, studentboliger, velferdssenter, idrettsbygg, svømmehall og forskningspark.
  • Bildet er tatt en solfylt augustdag i 2023 og viser glassfasaden ved hovedinngangen og noen studenter på uteområdet. Teglsteinsveggen er merket med logoer og store metallbokstaver for «Bakkenteigen kulturhus» og «USN», og den er pyntet med bannere med teksten «Velkommen til ny kunnskap» og «USN Universitetet i Sør-Øst-Norge». I bakgrunnen helt til høyre skimtes bygget for Studentsamskipnaden i Sørøst-Norge (SSN) og Fagskolen Vestfold og Telemark, studiested Horten (Raveien 189, 3184 Borre).
