English: Adapted from the United Nations' official logo for International Women's Year, the U.S. National Commission on the Observance of International Women's Year adds the words "to form a more perfect union" – a reference to the preamble of the United States Constitution. The original UN symbol, designed by Valerie Pettis, employs the mathematical symbol for equality (=), the scientific notation for female, and the dove for peace. |
