English: Afghan National Army soldiers from 3rd Kandak, 2nd Brigade, 203rd Corps help a wounded comrade to a medevac helicopter at Combat Outpost Zerok, May 23, 2013. ANA soldiers took the lead on first response care during Operation Zafar, a 10-day security patrol operation into Afghanistan's Nikeh District. They cared for three casualties throughout the mission. U.S. forces from 2/10 Security Forces Assistance Brigade stood back during the operation, limiting their involvement to advice and, if necessary, air and fire support. The casualties were airlifted to safety on U.S. aircraft. (U.S. Army National Guard photo by Spc. Mark VanGerpen, 129th Mobile Public Affairs Detachment/RELEASED) |
