Description
English: PENSACOLA, Fla. (May 13, 2010) Oil containment boom borders Sherman Cove at Naval Air Station (NAS) Pensacola to protect environmentally sensitive grass beds in anticipation of the arrival of oil from the Deepwater Horizon oil spill. NAS Pensacola has deployed more than 32,000 feet of boom along its 17 miles of shoreline. Deepwater Horizon was an ultra-deepwater oil rig that sank April 22, causing a massive oil spill threatening the U.S. Gulf Coast.
