Description
English: HELMAND PROVINCE, Afghanistan (Feb. 17, 2009) Information Systems Technician 1st Class Alan Decker, assigned to Naval Mobile Construction Battalion (NMCB) 7, inserts a cord into the transmitter dish of a Ruggedized Deployable Satellite Communications (RDSAT) system while performing routine maintenance checks. The RDSAT system is a deployable asset that allows a battalion to effectively communicate with email and phone services even when deployed to remote areas. This is the first time the RDSAT has been deployed with a Seabee battalion. NMCB 7 is deployed to Afghanistan providing contingency construction support to Alliance forces supporting the NATO International Security Assistance Force.
