Description
English: NORFOLK, Va. (June 19, 2008) Machinist Mate 1st Class Anthony Boatner, and Aviation Boatswain Mate Handler Airman Miguel Montecontreras, both Search and Rescue (SAR) swimmers aboard the amphibious assault ship USS Kearsarge (LHD 3), compete in the buddy tow event during a SAR Competition at the Atlantic Fleet Recreation pool. The SAR competition was an event for points towards the overall score standings for Surface Line Week 2008. Surface Line Week is a weeklong series of competitive events, during which Hampton Roads-area surface warriors show off their professional and athletic prowess. It is an opportunity to promote greater coordination and communication among surface warriors, to build esprit de corps and camaraderie and to recognize professional excellence across the force.
