English: SASEBO, Japan (Nov. 28, 2007) A Sailor from the forward-deployed mine countermeasures ship USS Patriot (MCM 7) uses a telescopic alidade to determine the bearing of other ships, as it returns to its forward-deployed operating base in Sasebo. Patriot wrapped up a two-month deployment, continuing U.S. 7th Fleet's interoperability and training in mine warfare maritime operations and strengthening U.S. commitments to regional partners throughout the western Pacific region. Patriot serves under Mine Countermeasures Division (MCMDIV) 11 as Task Force 76's mine countermeasures arm in forward-deployed operations. Task Force 76, the Navy's forward-deployed amphibious force commander, is headquartered at White Beach Naval Facility, Okinawa, Japan, with a detachment in Sasebo, Japan.
