Description
English: Okinawa, Japan (Aug. 31, 2006) - Secretary of the Navy (SECNAV), the Honorable Donald C. Winter is greeted by sideboys upon his arrival aboard the amphibious assault ship USS Essex (LHD 2). Winter visited the Essex to talk to embarked commanders, eat lunch and meet with the crew, reenlist several Iron Gators and to hold an all hands call in the hangar bay. The Secretary spoke to Sailors about the changes that will be taking place in the Navy, especially in the Pacific, and assured them that the Navy will continue aiming to provide a high quality of life for them and their families.
