English: Asan Bay, Guam (March 28, 2006) - Chief of Staff and first Deputy Commander of Russian Federated Navy Pacific Fleet Vice Adm. Konstantin Sidenko, and Commander of U.S. Naval Forces Marianas (NNS) Rear Adm. Joe Leidig salute during a wreath-laying ceremony held at the War in the Pacific National Historical Park. The ceremony was held to commemorate American and Japanese soldiers and island residents who died on Guam during World War II. The Russian Navy is on the island to take part in a bilateral humanitarian assistance, disaster relief and passage exercise with the U.S. Navy off the coast of Guam. The Russian navy is on island to take part in a bilateral humanitarian assistance, disaster relief and passage exercise with the U.S. Navy March 27-30 on and off the coast of Guam. This exercise is designed to increase interoperability between the two navies while enhancing the strong cooperative relationship between Russia and the United States and the two navies.
