Description
English: Pacific Ocean (May 27, 2005) - An F/A-18F Super Hornet attached to the "Diamondbacks" of Strike Fighter Squadron One Zero Two (VFA-102) launches from the flight deck aboard the conventionally-powered aircraft carrier USS Kitty Hawk (CV 63). The F/A-18F provides the carrier strike group with a strike fighter that has significant growth potential and increased range, endurance and ordnance carrying capabilities. Kitty Hawk is currently under way in the 7th Fleet area of responsibility demonstrating power projection and sea control as the U.S. Navy's only permanently forward-deployed aircraft carrier, operating from Yokosuka, Japan.
