English: Gonaives, Haiti (Mar. 10, 2005) - A young child smiles as U.S. Navy Seabees assigned to Naval Mobile Construction Battalion One (NMCB-1), construct a new school building for her and her classmates in Gonaives, Haiti. After the hurricanes of 2004, floodwaters were more than 12 feet deep at this location. When asked what she thought of the work being done, she said, "Tres bien," which translates to "very good." NMCB-1 is part of the New Horizon Task Force, which is deployed to Haiti for three months to conduct humanitarian construction and medical assistance. The construction projects include building three schoolhouses, and drilling three potable water wells. U.S. Navy photo by Photographer's Mate 2nd Class Roger S. Duncan (RELEASED) |
