English: Persian Gulf (Feb. 4, 2005) - Flight deck personnel aboard the Nimitz-class aircraft carrier USS Harry S. Truman (CVN 75) conduct aircraft salvage training with the emergency heavy lift crane, nicknamed “Tilly”, while underway in the Persian Gulf. An SH-60F Seahawk, assigned to the “Dusty Dogs” of Helicopter Anti-Submarine Squadron Seven (HS-7), was used as a mock crashed aircraft in the drill. Crash and Salvage crews often run drills simulating various kinds of accidents in order to improve their skill in firefighting and salvage operations. The Truman Carrier Strike Group is on a regularly scheduled deployment in support of the Global War on Terrorism. U.S. Navy photo by Photographer's Mate Airman Gregory A. Pierot (RELEASED) |
