English: Pacific Ocean (July 28, 2004) - Aviation Machinist's Mate 2nd Class Thomas Austin of Eatonville, Wash., inspects the afterburner of a GE-F414 Super Hornet engine in the Aircraft Intermediate Maintenance Departments (AIMD) jet shop aboard USS John C. Stennis (CVN 74). The Stennis and Carrier Air Wing Fourteen (CVW-14) are at sea participating in a scheduled deployment and supporting Summer Pulse 2004 which is the deployment of seven carrier strike groups (CSGs), demonstrating the ability of the Navy to provide credible combat capability across the globe, in five theaters with other U.S., allied, and coalition military forces.
