English: Arabian Gulf (July 2, 2004) – Marines assigned to special operations capable 11th Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU) and Sailors assigned to the amphibious assault ship USS Belleau Wood (LHA 3) gather for an "All Hands Call" with Commander, Expeditionary Strike Group Three, Brig. Gen. Joseph V. Medina. The Belleau Wood Expeditionary Strike Group Three (ESG-3) is comprised of the amphibious transport dock ship USS Denver (LPD 9), amphibious dock landing ship USS Comstock (LSD 45), guided missile destroyers USS Hopper (DDG 70) and USS Preble (DDG 88), guided missile cruiser USS Mobile Bay (CG 53) and fast-attack submarine USS Charlotte (SSN 766), and elements of the 11th Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU) special operations capable (SOC). ESG forces provide a national defense asset capable of conducting sustained combat operations and humanitarian assistance from sea or shore. BWD ESG is comprised of USS Belleau Wood (LHA 3), USS Denver (LPD 9), USS Comstock (LSD 45), USS Hopper (DDG 70), USS Preble (DDG 88), USS Mobile Bay (CG 53) and fast-attack submarine USS Charlotte (SSN 766). This force combined with 11th MEU, to produce a national defense asset capable of conducting sustained combat operations and humanitarian assistance from sea or shore.
