Description
English: Pacific Ocean (June 28, 2004) - Operations Specialist 2nd Class Andres Yanez, of Houston, Texas, plots the ship’s position on a digital dead reckoning tracer (DDRT) inside the combat information center (CIC) aboard the guided missile cruiser USS Cowpens (CG 63). Cowpens is forward deployed to Yokosuka, Japan, as part of the USS Kitty Hawk (CV 63) Carrier Strike Group (CSG). The Kitty Hawk CSG is one of seven participating in Summer Pulse 2004. Summer Pulse 2004 is the simultaneous deployment of seven aircraft strike groups (CSGs), demonstrating the ability of the Navy to provide credible combat across the globe, in five theaters with other U.S., allied, and coalition military forces.
