Description
English: Aboard USS Fort McHenry (LSD 43) -- A Sailor from Beach Master Unit One directs a fuel truck from a Naval Construction Task Group (NCTG) off a Landing Craft Utility (LCU) in the ship’s well deck. More than 300 U.S. Navy Seabees and Marine engineers from NCTG are being transported to the ship from Fuego Fuego Beach, Basilan Island in the Southern Philippines. These Sailors and Marines from U.S. bases in Okinawa, Japan, are working on infrastructure improvements on the island. Military forces are involved in projects such as airfields, roads, and bridges, which also benefit the local area residents. U.S. Navy photo by Photographer’s Mate 3rd Class Gary B. Granger.
