Description The U.S. Navy aircraft carrier USS Yorktown (CV-10) transiting the Panama Canal, bound for the Pacific combat zone, circa 11 July 1943. Note the Grumman TBF-1 Avenger and Douglas SBD-5 Dauntless aircraft on deck. The SBDs carry markings of Bombing Squadron 4 (VB-4). Also note the camouflage screens alongside the canal lock.
